Washington DC: Heart of Darkness

The east coast has some things to be grateful for. The weather: SoCal was hitting the (mere) 80s in the beginning of March, and with the intense sun it was already too hot for me. Here, the days barely made it into the 50s in the day with cool nights and enough rain to start a garden. It's warmer now, but still pleasant. The people: It's always good to see my family and my friends. Plus it's close enough to Ohio to trade visits with Wormz. Projects: I'm working on my house and van and a few other things.

I did some tourist time in DC:

The Washington Monument is under repair for the damage done in the earthquake that struck on 08 23 11

The Lincoln Memorial is full of emancipated humanity

A. Blinkin. Not blinkin'.

The Viet Nam memorial by Mya Lin

Interesting tidbit: Mya Lin has also created an installation at
Juniata College in Huntingdon, PA,
which is my hometown, called the Peace Chapel.

...and found a new way to avoid the appalling DC traffic:

And, finally, a recent project:

  1. Hello, Randy!
I'm a student at Juniata working on a media project concerning Peace Chapel. I was wondering if I could use your photo of the area (with credit) for my project.
    Thanks!
