Missouri, Kansas & Colorado

Jefferson City, MO is a lovely, quiet small city and the one capital
most forgotten, and one of four capitals with "City" in the name.

Heading toward Lawrence, KS, I called my friend Dolphin,
who urged me to come to Winfield, KS for the Walnut Valley
Music Festival. I went and had a fine time. The music
is mostly bluegrass. While that's not particularly my genre,
I was duly impressed by the musicianship. From the main stages.

John McCutcheon with Small Potatoes and sign language interpreter.

to the secondary, campground stages:

to the impromptu jams:

The festival is held at the fairgrounds where they also have
rodeos and demolition derbys.

From Winfield I went to Lawrence where I got some auto
repair work done and played at Tyler Gregory's open mic.
Then a quick stop in Topeka to revisit the Capitol.

After a long drive across Kansas, through endless fields of wheat,
corn, sorghum and soybeans, I came to Denver to revisit the
capitol there. The last time, the dome was under a shroud
due to construction. This time it was beautifully uncovered.

Portraits

In my efforts to further disencumber myself of unneeded stuff,
I used my studio lights to shoot some
stuff for Craig's List. Then I shot a few portraits.

I was the guinea pig.
